Hey

So, my elementalist is about to turn 2 years old (hooray!) and I decided to clean the dust off her and try out some RA. But air spiking felt, really out of flavor. Mostly because other classes can do it better and have better survival.

So! I updated my build, and I just got my glad point with it:

Mind Shock
Shock Arrow
Lightning Orb
Augery of Death
Enervating Charge
Air Attunement
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Res Sig

16 Air.10 Ene.8 Deathly A

So... again, just like with all other caster classes I'm abusing the ranged deep wound of "Augery of Death", and as expected it's extremely deadly on an elementalist.

Mond Shock and LOrb have about the same damage, doing 140ish on 60AL targets. Shock Arrow is good for extra DPS because of casting and recharge times. Enervating Charge is good to put on warriors rangers and assassins to lessen the pressure a little bit.

Might I ask... Why Shock Arrow? It does little more than hog energy for pathetic damage... Strike or even Bolt are generally better.

Cooldown, DPS, I need something that I can use whenever. Strike does only 5 more damage for a 4 second longer cooldown, which is too long.

Bolt is good though, can potentially do double the damage, 8 second cd is meh.

I'd say Bolt in this instance, afterall, it's a spike build so having high *overall* DPS isn't as important.
The reason I questioned Arrow on a Mind Shock bar is that MS requires higher energy, and Arrow can easily drain you if you spam too much.
Personally, I'd screw the both of them and bring Flash, melee hate is always fun

Well, you can't necessarily spike in RA. Pressure and fast damage is what wins fights so I'd say Arrow is probably the better choice. Augury of Death is a nice touch.

Actually, you can spike rather well in RA.
People there are generally too retarded to recognize what you're doing untill they're dead. For the 3rd time. Shatterstone works wonders.
